Arthur “Thanasis” Trizonis, of Garnet Valley, PA, age 83, passed peacefully on Dec 9, 2016. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marika Papouris Trizonis. Loving father to sons Nicholas and Paul and devoted grandfather to Anthony, Evan, Alexander, Nathaniel, & Samuel.
Born in Bel Air Maryland, and raised in Coatesville, PA, he married Marika in 1956 and moved to Delaware County PA. Arthur entered the US Air Force and attained the position of Staff Sargeant while serving his country. Upon his discharge, Arthur excelled at sales and spent his career as National Sales Manager for multiple large companies.
Arthur was extremely proud of his Greek heritage. As a member of both St. Luke’s in Broomall and St. George in Media, Thanasi & Marika were active in the community and worked tirelessly to promote Hellenism in every way they could.
Together, and with many friends, they organized, supported, and promoted many Greek events and projects in the Phila area and beyond. Thanasi had a golden voice and was very often found behind the microphone at many events, but his real passion was his love of Greek music. He played bouzouki and connected with many, many friends this way. For nearly 30 years he & Marika hosted a monthly get-together that brought musicians from all the local Greek communities together for a night of fun, music, and camaraderie that would often last until the next morning.
Thanasis will be dearly missed by his many friends and family. And he will be remembered for his love of the Greek spirit, which he worked passionately to promote.
Viewing Services will be held at 10 am on Monday 12/12/16 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 30 East Forge Rd, Media PA.
