Philadelphia, PA – Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church hosted its annual Fall Greek Food festival this past weekend. Parishioners cooked up traditional foods from Greece and served them up fresh for customers that lined the giant white tents outside.

Greek and American flags waved in the autumn sky all over the church, where this tiny parish gave Greeks a chance to try the best Greek food in the area. Souvlaki and Gyro sandwiches were especially popular this year. Along with lamb platters, most guests could be seen with full trays of sampled Greek food.

Homemade, right down to the filo dough. Yup. In an age of fast food and precooked, this parishes members defy the concept and do it old school. The galaktoboureko glistened with a golden brown filo dough in trays, making it even harder to choose dessert. It’s just one of the samples of sweets you get here. Making up your mind can be difficult, but even if you decide to take a chance, you know it’s going to be tasty.
