Golfo Leonardis passed away peacefully on February 25, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born February 10, 1932, in Lantzoi, Greece.
Orphaned at a young age, she immigrated to the United States in her late teens where she met the love of her life, Milano. Together they shared almost 54 happy years. Loving a Naval officer, she traveled the world with him sharing every posting and leave awarded him. Eventually settling in Upper Darby, her unending work ethic shone. She immediately took ruts in the community and her beloved St. Demetrios church. She took pride in her Greek culture and her church community and was devoted to instilling the love and beauty to her family and any person she came across. She was a pillar to the St. Demetrios Community which will never be the same. Her Strength, devotion and tireless efforts were an inspiration to her family; she will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Milano. Children: Ethel, Constantine (Stacy), Amelia (Mike) Economou, and Joanne (Demetrios) Krontiris. Grandchildren: Alex, Athina, Gabriella, Konstantina, Yianni, Nikolaos, Efthimios, Matthew, Liana, and Pantelis.
Her funeral service will be 11 am Friday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 229 Powell Ln, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Friends and family are welcome to attend her viewing from 7 pm to 9 pm on Thursday evening and again from 10 am to 11 am on Friday morning at the church. Interment will follow the funeral at Arlington Cemetery.
