Cherry Hill, NJ – Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey led the St. Thomas congregation for Great Friday services yesterday. Red and white carnations adorned the Epitafio that sat at the altar while dressed in white girls circled the altar. The service circled the church and parking lot and had its parishioners follow.
Many held candles and marched in the procession and then re-entered the church after passing below the Epitafios. On Great and Holy Friday the Greek Orthodox Church commemorates the death of Christ on the Cross. It is the culmination of the observance of his passion by which our Lord suffered and died for our sins.
