Philadelphia, PA – Morning service took place at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Holy Saturday Divine Liturgy (Eucharist service) is known as the “Proti Anastasi” or “First Resurrection” and celebrates the liberation of the righteous dead from Hades and the breaking down of the doors of death, which is imitated by children who ring bells and clappers as the priest chants “Arise.”
