Philadelphia, PA – The Ladies Philoptochos Society, “Ai Myrophori” of St. George Cathedral, celebrated and recognized their past presidents yesterday during a Mothers Day luncheon. Pauline Manos, a past president of three years, hosted and welcomed all to the affair.

The afternoon luncheon featured an exhibition of historic photographs and other items displayed around the church hall during this memorable day that reunited generations of Greek Americans from the cathedral.

Alexia Limberakis, Vice President of the Ladies Philoptochos of the Metropolis of New Jersey, gave the keynote speech. She shared her family ties to the church, including her mother being a Philoptochos member and attending the church while growing up.

St. George, formally St. Andrew Episcopal Church, was purchased and launched as a Greek Orthodox church 100 years ago. St George is in the heart of Olde City and home to the earliest Greek settlers of Philadelphia.

A series of celebrations throughout the year is taking place, and on October 14th, a gala event will take place. Visit them online at www.saintgeorgecathedral.org/anniversary.htm to learn more.
