Upper Darby, PA – Deacon Gregory Gilbert was ordained as a Greek Orthodox Priest this past Sunday, at St. Demetrios Church. Several Greek Orthodox Priests from the surrounding parishes attended and participated at the ceremony which was conducted by his Eminence, Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey.
Father Gilbert’s wife, Presvytera Katherine was in attendance with their five children and many came in from their parish, Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox church in Fredericksburg Maryland. Father Gilbert has been a long time member of the Sts. Peter and Paul community, first as a chanter and recently as a deacon.
Father Gilbert studied at St. Vladimir’s Seminary in New York and attended Catholic University where he received his PhD in Classics. Father Gilbert hails from the Knoxville Tennessee area and converted from the Protestant church shortly after having been married.
