Philadelphia, PA – This June, the Pontian Society “Akritai” of Philadelphia welcomes the community to a weekend celebrating the living traditions of Pontian Greeks. The annual Pontian Youth Cultural Festival will be held June 20–22, 2025, at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 229 Powell Lane in Upper Darby.

Over the course of three days, festivalgoers of all backgrounds will find themselves immersed in Pontian culture through a rich program of music, dance, food, and fellowship.

The festivities begin on Friday, June 20, with registration opening at 5:30 PM at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. The evening’s Welcome Dance kicks off at 8:00 PM, inviting guests to enjoy a buffet dinner, a cash bar, and a night filled with singing and dancing—a spirited introduction to the weekend.

Saturday’s program starts early, with registration and check-in available from 9:00 AM. Workshops on Pontian music, dance, and culture run from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering an opportunity for all ages to learn, share, and connect. Lunch is provided for participants, followed by the Pontian Youth Association board meeting at 3:00 PM. The day concludes with the signature Dinner Dance at 8:00 PM, where the next generation is spotlighted during the Youth Entrance Dance.

On Sunday, the community gathers for a church service at 10:00 AM, followed by a special blessing at the Pontian Monument. Lunch will be served at noon, and at 1:00 PM, the stage comes alive with performances by various Pontian youth societies. The festival ends on a joyful note with a Farewell Dance at 4:00 PM, featuring another buffet dinner and cash bar.

The Pontian Youth Cultural Festival is open to everyone—longtime members and newcomers alike—who wish to experience the energy, hospitality, and enduring spirit of the Pontian Greek community. It’s an invitation to connect with heritage, make new friends, and share in traditions that have been passed down through generations.
