Drexel Hill, PA – The mission continues to be clear for the AHEPAns at chapter 445, Thermopylae. This past Sunday, the chapter gathered for their annual holiday luncheon to award scholarships and review their year long philanthropic projects.
Four scholarships were awarded to members of the Greek-American community of Philadelphia. The award recipients were, Sophia Raptis, Nicolas Tsekouras, Nicolas Millas and Elaina Karayiannis.
With proud smiles the recipients each thanked the AHEPA for their scholarship. Following a photo op and prayer by member John Onasis, President Basil Karayiannis welcomed the chapter members and attendees. He discussed the chapters philanthropic endeavors the past year.
Daughters of Penelope chapter 332 members also participated in the annual event. Fotoula Pappas addressed the crowd and announced their annual Valentines dance was fast approaching. The Daughters’ Philanthropic efforts were also noted. Community care and cancer work are part of their yearly works.
Plaques were awarded to chapter members Harry Karapalides and Dimitri Constantinidis for their dedication and effort this past year, while several new members were recognized as joining the chapter.
This June, Districts 4 and 5 will co-host their regional conventions together in Philadelphia. The event promises to bring together two of the most powerful and influential districts of the AHEPA.
