Upper Darby, PA – This past Saturday, the Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby hosted its annual Bid and Buy event—an evening of fun, fellowship, and fundraising under the theme “Ladies Night Out.”
The event, one of the parish’s largest fundraisers, drew supporters from across the Delaware Valley. Guests browsed rows of beautifully arranged gift baskets and auction items, ranging from home goods to gift certificates and luxury items, all donated to support the cause. The evening also served as a gathering point for women from other Greek Orthodox communities, many of whom host similar events at their own parishes throughout the year.
More than just a night out, the Bid and Buy supports both the St. Demetrios community and a range of charitable causes backed by Philoptochos. Year after year, this event highlights what makes the Philoptochos Society so vital—not only its dedication to philanthropy, but its ability to bring people together for a shared purpose.
With each ticket placed in a basket and each bid called out, the spirit of giving—and community—was felt throughout the room.
