Philadelphia, PA – St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Philadelphia will be hosting it’s fourth annual golf classic/tournament at the Meadowlands Country Club on September 21. The annual event funds the restoration of Philadelphia’s St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

The event will also honor, Mr. Gus Sosangelis.  His  family will be present at the banquet and awards ceremony, where  Mr. Sosangelis  will be recognized for his philanthropic support of St. George Greek Orthodox cathedral and the Greek-American community.

St. George Cathedral would like to invite the Greek-American community to attend the banquet and or join in the fun by being a sponsor of the event. Four-man teams are still being accepted and encouraged to come out and be part of the revitalization of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

St. George is situated in the heart of the historic Greek community on 8th street and is part of the Old City district. Built by the famed architect John Haviland in 1821, the church was purchased by the Greek Orthodox Kathedrikos of St. George in 1922.

For the last 94 years, St. George has served its community by being a place of Orthodox worship, religious learning and Hellenic culture where traditions are proudly cherished.

Last years event was a huge success that raised thousands of dollars. It also honored WWII Veteran, Mr. Manos. Manos was a dedicated member of the parish for some 40 years and a friend to the Greek-American community.
