Philadelphia, PA – The St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral Ladies of Philoptochos hosted their Annual Bid-N-Buy, yesterday. This year’s theme was “Celebrating our Roots.” Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral is celebrating its 100th anniversary in Philadelphia and is scheduling many events that will take place throughout the year.
Smiles were everywhere through the evening’s affair. Attendees rejoiced at this first function of the spring season, where they graciously showed their support for the church that has played such a historic role in the history of the Greek American community. Philoptochos President Jenny Karvaris welcomed the visitors who came from all over the region, while Father Ambrose kicked off the night with the singing of Christos Anesti.
The mission of the Philoptochos centers around philanthropy. They are devoted to helping others, but they also have the role of bringing together the people in the Greek community in a positive way.
