Cherry Hill, NJ – Families gathered to look on as the next generation of Hellenes performed, songs of patriotism yesterday. The Greek school students of St. Thomas under the direction of their teachers also danced songs from throughout Greece and recited poetry for 193 anniversary of Greek Independence from under the Ottoman yoke. The annual event kicked off the Independence day weekend which brought the community out to Ben Franklin Parkway and then on to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church in Upper Darby.
