Upper Darby, PA – They certainly loved their Patsa at Tsipourovrathia. Served while still brewing in a stainless steel kettle, fans and connoisseurs, formed a long line for a taste of the garlic broth scented soup. There’s really no way to describe it. You either love it or leave it. At St. Demetrios on Saturday Night, they devoured the patsa and the famed elixir-Tsipouro. Two staple parts of this annual tribal gathering sponsored by the Society of Epirotes of Philadelphia, “Omonia”.

More than 500 people attended the event, that featured Yiorgo Bezanis on Clarinet and “The Lazaros Paraskeva Band”. The crowd filled the church hall and danced the night away to the tradition sounds of Epirus, Greece, where many of the attendees hailed from. Tsipourovrathia celebrated it’s tenth year as an annual event and continues to be a winter premier event in the Philadelphia community.
