Upper Darby, PA – Championship Bound: PGBL Semi-Finals Deliver Big Wins and Big Moments
Thursday night at St. Demetrios brought out the best of the PGBL — on and off the court. Fans packed the stands as four teams battled for a spot in the championship, and the Greek-American community showed up in full force to support their own. A halftime performance by the Pan-Macedonian dancers added energy and tradition to an already exciting evening.
Game 1: Danny’s Boys 87 – Kings 64
The first semifinal matchup saw Danny’s Boys come out firing. Led by sharpshooter Pete Kathopoulos and his barrage of three-pointers, they jumped out to a commanding 20-point lead by halftime and never looked back. The Kings, despite their playoff experience, couldn’t recover from the early deficit. Danny’s Boys looked focused, energized, and ready for a title run.
Game 2: Wolfpack 74 – Sixers 64
The second game was a more evenly matched contest between the reigning champion Sixers and the upstart Wolfpack. The teams traded baskets for most of the night, but it was the Wolfpack — guided by the steady tempo and scoring of Louie Karapanagiotides — who controlled the pace when it mattered most. In the closing minutes, they pulled away and closed the door on the Sixers’ repeat hopes.
