Philadelphia, PA – The Cyprus Society of Greater Philadelphia hosted an evening with Michalis Violaris and Andrianna Kollia at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in the center city. The Pancyprian Choir of New York accompanied them with the director Phyto Stratis. The group made the trip down from New York and performed more than nine songs with Violaris and Kollia, who captivated the crowd.

Violaris melodies from the ’60s and ’70s took guests on a nostalgic journey about the music scene in which his stamp is on as a representative of the homeland, Cyprus. He is a pioneer responsible for popularising in Greece Cypriot songs sung in the Cypriot dialect.

Folk dancing was also featured by the Cypriot Dancers of Greater Philadelphia, who were led by Dance Director Karoline Kokolis.
