Philadelphia, PA – The parish council and Philoptochos Society “Ai Myrophoroi” of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral joined forces to give back to their community, specifically to the Healthcare Workers of Pennsylvania Hospital. “We wanted to give back because we are living through unprecedented times,” said Gianna Kravaris, President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. The parishioners prepared Pastitsio, salads, and Greek sweets. Their annual festival was also canceled this spring due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It’s been really great how people in our community have been taking care of our first responders,” said Salvatore DiPalma, Executive Chef of Pennsylvania Hospital. DiPalma and Carolyn Tobin, Director of Food and Nutrition at the hospital, came over and picked up more than a hundred meals for the hospital that is next door to St. George.

St. George also donated food products to Philabundance. This is a collective effort that continues throughout the year at St. George.
