Watch the Divine Liturgy for Thomas Sunday now at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill, NJ. The Liturgy is presided over by His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia.
Following the celebration of Holy Pascha, the Orthodox Church observes the Sunday of St. Thomas. On this day, Jesus Christ appeared to His disciples, marking the end of Passover. After eight days, Christ appeared again to His disciples, and Thomas proclaimed, “My Lord and my God” upon seeing the hands and side of Christ.
Sunday after Pascha is also called Antipascha (meaning “instead of Pascha,” not “against Pascha”) because it dedicates each Sunday to commemorating the Resurrection or Pascha.
