Cherry Hill, NJ – St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church observed and celebrated St. Thomas Day yesterday. Families, parishioners, and clergy members were in attendance for the service, which a Panigiri followed in front of the church and a banquet inside.
His Grace, Bishop Apostolos of Medeia, thanked the attendees following the event and invited everyone to celebrate the historic day marked by the St. Thomas community.
The Sunday of Thomas is celebrated with the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom. On this Sunday and throughout the Paschal period until the Apodosis or leave-taking of Pascha, the day before the Feast of the Ascension, the services begin with chanting the Troparion of Pascha, “Christ is risen…”
