Philadelphia, PA – If you’re longing for Greece’s flavors because they are so authentic, this is the place to go. It’s the Evangelismos Greek food festival in Northeast Philadelphia, and it’s happening through the weekend.
The Greek food is straight out of kitchens at this little chapel just off Roosevelt Blvd. on Bustleton Ave. The workers are immigrants that have brought the flavors of Greece to this neighborhood church that welcomes everyone in Greek and offers you a variety of authentic dishes.
And if you are longing for Greek sweets, then look no further. Spanakopita, Mousaka, traditional gyros, and Kontosouvli, rare at Greek festivals, are all on the handwritten menu in the Delaware Valley. They are baking them in the back of the church and serving them fresh-prepared by the ladies of the church.
