Presvytera Elizabeth (Constantine) Limberakis peacefully passed away on February 25th at 93. She was the loving wife of the late Father John A. Limberakis and the mother of four children: Evangelyn (deceased), Cary (Alexis), Anthony (Maria), and Catherine (James). She was also a proud grandmother to Alyssa, Jaclyn, Jonathan, and Kyra Limberakis; John, Anthony, and Elizabeth Limberakis; and Andrea, John, and Peter Tsatalis. Additionally, she was a great-grandmother to Peter, Alexia, Jack, Dakota, Anthony, Evangeline, and Anthony.
Mrs. Limberakis was the daughter of Kyriakos and Erasmia Constantine and the younger sister of Jim (Mary) Constantine and Despina (John) Yannacakis, who predeceased her. She was originally from Los Angeles, CA, before marrying Father John.
As a Presvytera, a title of honor for a priest’s wife, Mrs. Limberakis was an integral part of the parishes where her husband served. This included St. George in Fresno, CA, Annunciation in Cranston, RI, Annunciation in Elkins Park, PA, and St. Sophia, Sts. Faith, Hope, and Agape in Jeffersonville, PA, all Greek Orthodox communities. She was highly respected and loved by those who worked alongside her in parish activities and organizations.
Her interests included music, classic films, singing, and cooking, and she enjoyed hosting her family for holidays and festive occasions. Aside from her devotion to the Orthodox Church, Mrs. Limberakis provided administrative support for her sons’ dental and medical practices for many years. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and provided significant caregiving for them during their early years.
Mrs. Limberakis and her family, including her children and grandchildren, traveled with Father John on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land to visit Christian landmarks and shrines. They were all baptized in the River Jordan.
According to Greek Orthodox tradition, a funeral service will be held on March 3rd at St. Sophia, Sts. Faith, Hope, and Agape Greek Orthodox Church, 900 S. Trooper Road in Jeffersonville. Visitation will take place from 9-11 am, followed by the funeral sacrament, presided over by His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia. The interment will be at Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church or the Church of the Annunciation, located at 7921 Old York Road in Elkins Park, PA 19027.
