Wilmington, DE – The Wilmington Greek-American community mourns the passing of Andrew G. Tsaldaris, who fell asleep in the Lord on August 19, 2025, at the age of 72. Surrounded by his loved ones, Andrew left this life as he had lived it, with devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and quiet strength.
Born to the late George N. and Steliany G. Tsaldaris, Andrew grew up in a family that cherished its roots and community ties. He is remembered as a devoted brother to Nick Tsaldaris and his wife Bonnie, a beloved uncle to Nick Jr., and a faithful partner of 45 years to Theresa Menefee, with whom he shared a daughter, Morgan. Cousins, extended family, and countless friends remain to treasure his memory.
Andrew’s early years were marked by talent and ambition. He was a gifted athlete, playing football for the University of Texas. His passion for performance also drew him to the stage, where he acted alongside Ed Nelson and Bill Macy in summer stock productions in Texas and California. Though he could have pursued a career in acting, Andrew chose a different path. When his family faced hardship, he returned home to Delaware, set aside his own ambitions, and took on the responsibility of supporting those he loved. He later ran the family business and eventually established himself as a skilled general contractor and carpenter.
Those who knew Andrew speak of his honesty, humor, and generosity. He never hesitated to lend a hand, share a story, or offer encouragement. Friends recall late nights full of laughter, working together on cars and projects, and a spirit that was larger than life. Family members remember his compassion, his devotion to Theresa and Morgan, and the way he stood as a steady presence through both joy and hardship.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM, with interment at Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Andrew’s memory to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or to the American Cancer Society.
As his loved ones have shared in their tributes, Andrew Tsaldaris will be remembered not only for his talents and achievements but for his deep humanity, a man who spoke his mind, cared for others without hesitation, and lived his life with authenticity. May his memory be eternal.
