As the Sons of Pericles approach their 100th anniversary, the organization is marking the occasion not only with ceremonies and archives but with something much simpler: bringing people together. From October 31 to November 2, 2025, members from across the United States and Canada will meet in Ottawa for a weekend of connection, culture, and celebration under the banner Greeks in Ottawa.
The three-day gathering will open Friday night at the Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa East with a welcome reception, followed by a Halloween-themed social event at Happy Fish in downtown Ottawa. Over the weekend, participants will explore the city, share meals, and exchange ideas about the organization’s future and the role of young Hellenes in their local communities.
Founded in 1926, the Order of the Sons of Pericles is the youth branch of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), the civic organization established in 1922 to promote education, philanthropy, and Hellenic ideals in North America. Together with its sister organizations, the Daughters of Penelope and the Maids of Athena, the group has supported generations of Greek Americans and Greek Canadians in building community through service and cultural continuity.
Greeks in Ottawa represents both tradition and renewal. For some participants, it is a chance to reconnect after years of limited travel and local inactivity. For others, it is their first time joining a national Sons of Pericles event. What unites them is the same goal that inspired the organization’s founders a century ago: to strengthen bonds among young Hellenes and to keep their culture alive through shared experience.
