Isidoros “Izzy” N. Frangakis of Mohnton, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was 63 years old and surrounded by his loving family at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John and Despina (Gregos) Frangakis. From a young age, Izzy was part of the family tradition that shaped not only his life but also the local Greek community. At 10 years old he began working in the family’s restaurant on North 8th Street in Reading. Over the decades that followed, he became chef and co-owner of the DeLuxe Diner on Lancaster Pike in Shillington. Izzy poured his heart into every plate he served. He cared deeply for the people around him, especially his employees, and often drove them home after long shifts to make sure they were safe.

Outside of work he found joy in simple moments. Long bike rides. Time in his home gym. Priceless days with his family. He watched his niece and nephew grow into adulthood and create families of their own. He cheered at his grandchildren’s school events with the pride of a grandfather who never missed a moment. Mornings spent getting the kids to school were a highlight of his day, followed by the comfort of watching the Price Is Right and finding moments to play a lighthearted prank.

Izzy was a longtime member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, where faith and community always had a place in his life. He was also a member of the Mohnton Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed the friendships he made there.

Izzy shared seven wonderful years with his beloved wife, Catherine (Endy) Faller-Frangakis. Three of those years they spent happily married, building a home filled with laughter, warmth, and devotion. His love for family extended to his stepsons Joseph, Joshua, and Jonathan and to his six grandchildren: Mason Raska, Jared Faller, Juliana Faller, Jacob Faller, Chase Faller, and Phoenix Faller.

He is also survived by his sister Anna (Frangakis) Burkman and her husband Darryl, his niece and goddaughter Evangelia (Koutroulelis) Gregory and her husband Benjamin, his nephew Stelios Koutroulelis and his wife Kaylee, and two great nephews Alexandros Gregory and Ignatios Koutroulelis.
