The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey welcomes all faithful to honor the Feast of St. Iakovos of Evia, the Patron Saint of the Metropolis. The services will take place at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill at 615 Mercer Street. For those unable to attend in person, Cosmos Philly will stream both services live.
This year’s celebration holds special significance. For the first time, the Epitachelion of St. Iakovos, a vestment worn by the Saint, will be presented for veneration. It is a rare blessing for the community and an opportunity to feel a closer connection to his life of quiet holiness, humility, and compassion.

St. Iakovos of Evia, also known as Elder Iakovos Tsalikis, is remembered as a modern saint who lived with deep prayer and genuine love for others. Born in 1920 and canonized in 2017, he became widely respected for his simplicity, compassion, and the peace he offered to all who sought his guidance. His humility became a defining part of his spiritual legacy, and his memory continues to inspire the faithful in Greece and around the world.
