A program titled First Olympics will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Maliotis Cultural Center in Brookline, Massachusetts.

The event is presented by the Maliotis Cultural Center, in association with the Benaki Museum and the National Hellenic Society.

Pavlos Geroulanos, a member of the Greek Parliament and former Minister of Culture and Tourism of Greece, and Nikos Trivoulidis, Director of Fundraising and Development at the Benaki Museum, are listed as guest speakers.

The program is connected to the Maliotis Cultural Center’s ongoing exhibition, Olympic Games 1896, a collection of photographs from the first modern Olympic Games in Athens. The images were taken by German photographer Albert Meyer, who documented the 1896 Games.

The photographs originate from the Benaki Museum’s Historical Archives and are now on display at the Maliotis Cultural Center. The collection includes scenes from the Panathenaic Stadium, athletic events, and official ceremonies. Meyer’s original negatives were destroyed during World War II, making the surviving prints irreplaceable historical records.

The exhibition has been on display at the Maliotis Cultural Center since August 2024, following an agreement between the Center and the Benaki Museum.

The event takes place during the same period as the final days of the 1896 Olympic Games, which were held from April 6 to April 15, 1896.

Registration is available through the Maliotis Cultural Center via Eventbrite or by contacting ckourkounti@hchc.edu.

The Maliotis Cultural Center is located on the campus of Hellenic College Holy Cross at 50 Goddard Avenue in Brookline.

Please confirm event details with the organizers before attending, as dates, times, locations, and registration information may change.
