Archbishop Elpidophoros of America will lead a five-day pilgrimage to Constantinople in October commemorating the 35th anniversary of the enthronement of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate announced the October 19-23 pilgrimage on August 28. The faithful are invited to take part, although the initial announcement did not include details on registration, travel, or accommodation.
Archbishop Elpidophoros will be joined by National Commander Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis and the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The pilgrimage also coincides with an important date in Patriarch Bartholomew’s tenure. He was unanimously elected Archbishop of Constantinople-New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch on October 22, 1991. He ascended the Ecumenical Throne on November 2, 1991.
Organizers said plans for the pilgrimage are still being finalized, with additional details expected in the coming weeks.
