Stockton University’s Dean C. and Zoë S. Pappas Interdisciplinary Center for Hellenic Studies will present a screening of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey on Thursday, September 24, at 7 p.m. at Tilton Square Theatre in Northfield, New Jersey.
A 30-minute discussion and Q&A with Stockton professors Katherine Panagakos and Tom Papademetriou will follow the film.
Nolan wrote and directed the 2026 adaptation of Homer’s epic. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron. The film opened in theaters July 17.
Panagakos is an associate professor of Greek and Latin and the AFGLC Endowed Professor of Greek Culture at Stockton. Papademetriou is a professor of history, the Constantine and Georgiean Georgiou Endowed Professor of Greek History, and executive director of the Pappas Center.
The Pappas Center is offering free tickets to Friends of Hellenic Studies, who can reserve tickets through the event sign-up form. Stockton students, faculty, and staff can also obtain free tickets at the Campus Center Box Office. Walk-ins with a valid Stockton ID will be admitted as space permits. Free transportation from campus is available for those who reserve a spot when picking up their ticket.
The film runs 2 hours and 52 minutes, with the full program expected to conclude at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tilton Square Theatre is located at 331 Tilton Road in Northfield. The venue’s current listing confirms the Tilton Square Theatre name and address.
