Cherry Hill, NJ – Eight new members of the Greek-American community were initiated this past Wednesday night in to the AHEPA. The joint event brought together some 50 members from 2 districts (4 and 5) for the formal ceremony. Chapters 445, 69 and 29 each had new inductees join the Order of AHEPA.

The evening started off with a birthday cake cutting for brother Elias Horiatis who turned 80, before members filed in to the AHEPA room at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church. Once the doors closed and the gavel was struck, several knocks at the rear entrance to the room were heard. Led in by the captain of the guard, 8 new members entered. The formal ceremony lasted some 45 minutes, where each new member took the oath.

George Horiatis of Camden Chapter 69 was presented with several checks from District 4 governor Sammy Thomas totaling 1500.00 dollars. The funds were donated from District 5 chapter #517 (Garden State/Homedale) and District 4 chapter #445 (Upper Darby-Broomall). The funds will go to the Cancer Research Foundation efforts, which District #5 has been actively supporting.

The evening concluded with new members being presented with AHEPA pins, which was followed by group photos of both the attendees and the new members.
