High Scores and a Historic Night in the PGBL
Thursday night was one for the books in the PGBL, with all three winning teams breaking into the 70s — and one player setting a new scoring milestone.
Game 1: Danny’s Boys 73 – FOB 46
Danny’s Boys stayed undefeated and firmly in first place with another dominant performance. They controlled the game from the outset, never giving FOB a chance to gain momentum. Their unbeaten streak continues, and they look more focused than ever.
Game 2: Rip City 74 – Spartans 50
The highlight of the night came from Rip City’s George Mashas, who exploded for a record-setting 42 points — one of the highest single-game totals in PGBL history. While the Spartans kept it close through much of the game, Rip City pulled away late with Mashas leading the charge.
Game 3: Sixers 74 – Golden State 60
In the final game of the night, two championship-caliber teams met in a much-anticipated showdown. The Sixers, last year’s champs, faced off against the former Warriors, now playing as Golden State. The game stayed close for most of the night, but the Sixers turned it up in the final minutes and walked away with a solid 14-point win.
With playoffs on the horizon, teams are making statements — and individual performances, like Mashas’ 42-point outing, are raising the bar. The race is heating up, and the energy around the league is only getting stronger.
