On September 19th, 2011, the annual Blessing of the Waters was held in Asbury Park, New Jersey, led by Metropolitan Evangelos. Parish members and families from the Greek Orthodox communities of New Jersey and Philadelphia gathered to watch teenagers jump into the Atlantic Ocean to retrieve the cross. The celebration concludes with a picnic on the grounds near the renowned Asbury Park boardwalk.
