300 Revisited – Hellenic Warriors

Last week at Drexel University, John Trikeriotis of The Hellenic Warriors Living History Group gave a lecture titled 300 Revisited: Fact and Fiction in Hollywood’s Depiction of the Battle of Thermopylae. A member of the archaeological team The Leonidas Expeditions, Trikeriotis explored the historical truth behind one of the most famous battles in ancient history.

He also brought along authentic reproductions of armor and weapons used by Greek warriors 2,500 years ago. Students had the chance to handle the equipment, try it on, and imagine what it was like to stand in the ranks during one of history’s great last stands.

The event was presented by Drexel University’s Greek Studies program.
