Upper Darby, PA – This past Sunday, St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, played host to this years annual event, Three Hierarchs and Greek Letters Day. Thirteen parishes participated at the annual event that brings together the Orthodox community of the Delaware Valley.
The event recognizes three Holy Hierarchs, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. These highly influential bishops of the early church, played pivotal roles in shaping Christian theology and are recognized for bringing Hellenes the Greek letters.
In attendance was Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey. He recognized many individuals for helping put this event together and concluded, announcing that the event will return back to St. Thomas Greek Orthodox church again next year where it was originally hosted in 2008.
The annual event is now 7 years old and continues to be a key annual event in the Philadelphia area for the Greek Orthodox community.
