Hatboro, PA – The competition just keeps getting better as the PGBL (Philadelphia Greek Basketball League) crowned a new champ this past weekend. Led by Niko Balis, “Tune Squad” put together a run that carried past last years champs, “The Bridge” and this years contender, “The Trenton EuroStars”.

The weekend featured teams from as far away as Lancaster, Pa and Brooklyn Ny. This proves again the caliber of play and the interest in the annual tournament which is now in it’s second year. More than 120 players participated this year, and “the competition was even more fierce” say’s Co-founder Bill Zonios.

The double elimination gave teams a chance to make it through making it a worthwhile journey to the Philly suburbs. The PGBL (Philadelphia Greek Basketball League) has now become a full time year long organization. “We want to be a year round organization”, say’s co-founder, John Vasiliou.

The PGBL has become a well organized member of the community as a basketball league and as a foundation for the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The not only sponsor a basketball league, but a foundation for those less fortunate and has two summer sports tournament, which include golf and basketball.
