He was a leader in the building of the Holy Trinity Community Center on the church grounds at Mill Road and Ridge Avenue. He was also devoted to quality education and was the former president of the Mullica Township School District. Dr. Malaspina lived in Hammonton with his wife and two children. He died September 1, 2014 after a seven-year battle with multiple sclerosis. In recognition of his contributions to Holy Trinity, the Community Center will be named in his honor.

The Holy Trinity Community Center opened in April 2007 and is home to the Trinity Learning Center Preschool and Kindergarten, where Dr. Malaspina served on the board of directors. The center is host to Gamblers Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Boy and Girl Scout of America meetings and overnight camps for disabled children (WAVE Camp). In addition, it serves as a polling station for elections and provides greatly needed space for the many ministries and programs of the parish. Dr. Malaspina represented the Holy Trinity parish at the 300th Anniversary of Egg Harbor Township in 2010, which was held in the center’s gymnasium.
