A portrait of Macedonian war hero Pavlos Melas steps back as a tour guide recounts his heroic deeds. Pavlos Melas was an officer in the Hellenic Army, among the first to organize and take part in the Greek Struggle for Macedonia. On October 13, 1904, he was killed after being surrounded by Ottoman forces in the village of Siatista. The village has been renamed Melas in his honor, after joining Greece.
