July 28th 2012. St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby, is under construction. The front facade of the church is being replaced some 47 years after being erected. Apparently, the front of the church was built not in a Byzantine style Greek Orthodox church. After years of requests to rectify the situation from the current and previous metropolitan to correct the situation, the glass wall and doors that access the front of the church are being removed and replaced. A temporary wall is being placed there while wooden doors and a stone wall are being prepared to replace the front facade.

The project cost is estimated to be approximately 110,000.00.
