Greek Orthodox pilgrims gather at the historic monastery of Panagia Soumela in Eastern Turkey along the Black sea coast. The historic region known as Pontos, was home to the Pontian Greeks who colonized the region some 3000 years ago and still have a presence there until this day. Those that have remained have become islamicized.
