Popularly known as “Parharomanes” in Greek, these women hold to the traditions of semi-nomadic farmers. Throughout much of the spring, summer and fall seasons, these Pontian women from the surrounding local villages, travel to the surrounding mountain valleys and tend to their simple gardens, cows and to making local Tsipouro. The tradition traces its roots back to Pontos where this custom continues today.
