Upper Darby, PA – Parishioners at St. Demetrios lined up following services yesterday to receive their Palms. It was Palm Sunday, the first day of the Christian Holy Week leading up to Easter. On this day, many churches distribute palm fronds to their parishioners, a reminder of the palms the Bible says were laid down in front of Jesus as he entered Jerusalem before his arrest and crucifixion. Many parishioners use those palm fronds to make decorative crosses they’ll keep on display in their homes throughout the coming year.
