The Daughters of Penelope are looking forward seeing you at their 2017 Tea Party, “Tea & Treasure in the Winter Palace,” on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at the Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees, NJ.

This is the sixth Tea Party organized by the Daughters of Penelope, Nike Chapter 230, in support of philanthropic objectives. Primary beneficiaries of this event will be K9s for Warriors and Covenant House of NJ.

K9s For Warriors saves both warriors and rescue dogs. The organization is dedicated to providing service canines to our service men and women suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. The goal of the organization is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.

For more than four decades, Covenant House has helped transform and save the lives of over a million homeless, runaway and trafficked young people. The organization offers housing and support services to young people in need – helping over 46,000 boys and girls every year. Their work is guided by a mission to serve youth with absolute respect and unconditional love, to help suffering homeless kids, and to protect and safeguard all children in need.

The cost of a trained service dog is $15,000, and we are hoping to raise enough funds to purchase at least one dog and make a meaningful contribution in support of homeless teens.

The event will feature a special performance by the Voloshky Dance Ensemble. Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble represents Ukrainian culture through dance. Voloshky’s unique blend of styles has positioned the company as a leading cultural ambassador, simultaneously representing Ukrainian arts as well as the rich, dynamic pluralism of the United States.

With the objectives of the Daughters of Penelope being to promote Hellenism, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and family & individual excellence, the organization is a leader in philanthropic, educational and cultural activities and promotes the spirit of cooperation.
