It was an exciting evening of basketball at the PGBL quarterfinals. A bit of a surprise in the first game was followed by a feisty battle in the second.
The Rev’s started out slow by falling behind 7-0 to the Warriors in the opening game of the quarterfinals last night of the PGBL. They stayed close the rest of the way, till the final minutes, when they made a run. Then, the Rev’s kicked it into gear with just two minutes left in the game and down by three. Vasilis Nasis of the Rev’s was fouled outside the perimeter while shooting a three-pointer. He made all three foul shots ultimately sending the game to overtime, where they managed to shut down the Warriors and pull out a one-point victory over the Warriors. Louie Karas scored 21 points for Warriors, and Vasilis Nasis scored 28 for the Revolution. Final Score: Revolution 57, Warriors 56.
The Process kept working all night against the Kings, who just couldn’t get that scrappy bunch to go away. Throughout the first half and for much of the second, The Process stuck to their guns and pressed the Kings anywhere and anytime they felt like it. It kept them in the game, as they managed to get many steals and turnovers from the Kings. The Armentani brothers and the Dawson duet were determined to make a run of it for The Process. They got within a point a few times in the second half, but the offensive attack of Bill Zonios and Jim Armenakis was not to be denied; they scored 17 points each for the Kings while the Armentani brothers dropped 19 and 20 respectively. The Kings advanced to the semifinals next Thursday with their win over The Process. Final Score: Kings 66, The Process 59.
