Edison, NJ – AHEPA District 5 hosted its annual fall gala this past Saturday evening. The event recognized many members of the district, awarded grants under it’s Cancer Research Foundation and presented the Axios Award to Yibin Kang, PhD, (Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Professor of Molecular Biology, Princeton University), for his cancer research work in the area of secreting particles.
Through out the evening, members of the AHEPA spoke on the philanthropic efforts around the country AHEPA has participated in and the significance of each district. District 5 (New Jersey and Delaware) has played a significant role with their nationally recognized Cancer Research Foundation. Over the course of 24 years, they have raised $825,000 which they have awarded to a variety of institutions to continue with research in the area of cancer.
