Annunciation/Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church in Elkins Park is seeking two dedicated individuals to help care for the parish: a Custodian and a Church Sexton (Neokoros). These roles are essential to keeping the church welcoming, well-maintained, and ready to serve parishioners during worship and community gatherings.
Custodian
The custodian will care for the church facilities and grounds so that the parish can continue to offer a clean and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include cleaning, organizing supplies and storage areas, setting up and cleaning the commercial kitchen and banquet hall, performing basic repairs, and light groundskeeping. The ideal candidate is reliable, trustworthy, able to follow directions, and comfortable working flexible hours with minimal supervision.
Church Sexton (Neokoros)
The sexton serves an important role in the spiritual life of the parish. This part-time position calls for an Orthodox Christian who reveres the House of God, respects the clergy, and works well with those serving at the Altar. Duties include attending all scheduled divine liturgies and other services such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals. Depending on the ecclesiastical calendar, the role requires 5 to 20 hours weekly. Discretion, dependability, and a willingness to assist clergy and parishioners are essential.
