Chrisanthi Katsanos (née Kerekos) passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a life defined by hard work, devotion, and service to her community.
Born in Philadelphia to Nicholas and Katherine Kerekos (Paradissis), Chrisanthi was a proud graduate of Frankford High School. She began her working life with the railroad before marrying her beloved husband, Christy Katsanos, in November 1959. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, resilience, and care for others.
Chrisanthi dedicated many years to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother. In her 30s, she returned to the workforce, first in retail at Charles Shop and later with Mellon Bank’s Asset Department, where she worked until her retirement in 2003. Retirement, however, did not slow her down. She continued working part-time as a front desk receptionist at Highland Park Podiatry, remaining active and engaged well into later life.
She was a devoted and active member of St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, as well as the Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptochos Society. Her commitment to Philoptochos spanned 59 years, a dedication for which she was formally honored. She also volunteered countless hours baking and serving at the church’s Greek Affair, generously offering her time without fanfare.
Outside of her service, Chrisanthi found joy in simple pleasures. She loved spending time in Brigantine, New Jersey, and was always happy enjoying a visit to the casino, especially when playing the slot machines.
She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Christy.
She is survived by her children, Katina Lulias (John), Van Katsanos (Janine), and Nicole Riordan (Jimmy); her grandchildren, Gabrielle Gormley (Mike), Alexandra and Juliette Lulias, Christian, Andreas, and Kameron Katsanos, and Avery and Evan Riordan; and her great-grandson, Hunter Gormley.
Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Road, Broomall, Pennsylvania. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Arlington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church.
May her memory be eternal.
