Philadelphia, PA – This past Saturday, The United Chios Society of Philadelphia Koraes Chapter 16 once again shared their Christmas spirit with the city of Philadelphia. For the last month, they have been collecting toys, games, and books all to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

In their third year, with the help of almost a dozen local businesses, the society was able to collect upwards of $3,000 worth of toys and games for the young patients in the hospital.

The society contributes to various charities throughout the year, both in the US and Chios. In the Spring, The Philadelphia Chios Society will also take part in the For Pete’s Sake Walk at Citizen Bank Park to benefit those fighting cancer.

In addition to their charitable efforts, they sponsor two scholarships for Greater Philadelphia area students descenting from Chios. Proceeds from their annual Apokriatiko dance, which will take place on February 20th at The Merion, continue to keep those scholarships alive.
