Dimitri Tzoumakaris, a native of Veria, Greece, and resident of Delaware County, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Dimitri and his wife, Effie, immigrated to the United States with their son, Thanasi, and settled in Upper Darby. He held several jobs in the restaurant industry before moving into construction. He most recently lived in Springfield.
He worked hard to support his family, which remained his greatest source of pride. Those closest to him will remember the dedication, perseverance, and love he showed throughout his life.
Dimitri is survived by his wife, Effie; his son, Thanasi, and daughter-in-law, Lauren; his granddaughter, Ifigenia; his brother, Kosta, and sister-in-law, Katerina Tzumakaris; and his nephews, Peter and Thanasi Tzumakaris.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 3, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Media. Interment followed at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial donations to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
