Media, PA – The dinner bell rang loudly on Friday at St. George Greek Orthodox church. Parishioners hustled to bring food to the hungry crowd lining up to enjoy authentic Greek dishes. The annual Greek food festival, A Taste of Greece, offered Greek food and atmosphere any way you wanted. The hall’s semi-formal dining facilities and the tent’s chatter, dancing, and singing were both packed with Greek food fans.
Loukoumades ruled the outdoor tent, while platters of moussaka and pastitsio dominated the indoor tent. A Greek-style deli known as a periptero filled the corner of the tent, adding to the atmosphere of Greece. The 4-day festival is hosted annually and is celebrating its 41st year as an annual Greek festival.
Dancing performances were provided throughout the evening by 4 different dance troupes. St. Luke Greek Orthodox church from Broomall participated, and St. George sent in two of it’s groups. Senior and junior organizations ranging in ages from 5 to 18 performed folk dances under the tent for all to see.
The event runs throughout the weekend, and there’s still plenty of time to enjoy a wonderful meal.
