Katina Christoforidis, a life to celebrate, left us on June 20, 2023. But her legacy remains, a string of memories and values she weaved through 96 enriching years.
Her love, strong as the Aegean winds, extended to her family – her dear son George, her cherished daughter-in-law Margarita, and the delight of her later years, her grandchildren Katrina and Lee. And oh, her eyes twinkled when she looked upon Athena, her little great-granddaughter. Her beloved husband, Pantelis Christoforidis, her parents, Stavros and Despina Kiamlidis, and her brother Sava, had bid their goodbyes before her.
In the heart of Veria, Greece, on a crisp winter day, January 25, 1927, Katina arrived in this world. Life led her to Katerini, where, together with Pantelis, she built a home that resonated with love and joy. Gifted with nimble fingers, Katina spun dreams out of fabric as a seamstress. In Katerini, her boutique grew, and her craftsmanship was revered.
An immigrant’s tale unfolded in 1969 when America became her second home. She sewed the fabric of lasting friendships in this foreign land through her kindness, strength, and loyalty. Her passion for her craft never waned. Back to Katerini, they journeyed every year post-retirement, halting when she touched 93.
A beacon of grace and tenacity, Katina shaped her life around the principles of excellence. Love for her faith, community, and family defined her—Katina, a matriarch of respect and devotion, led by example.
Friends and family, join us to honor Katina’s life journey. The viewing is scheduled from 10-11 am, Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 229 Powell Lane, Upper Darby, PA 19082. The Funeral Service will commence at 11 am, and she will be laid to rest at Fernwood Cemetery thereafter.
