Philadelphia, PA – The Evangelismos Greek School (Bustleton ave.) commemorated Greek Independence day in their own special way this past Sunday.

While families looked on, the Greek school students, put on a full afternoon performance of poems and songs and even added in a bit of theatre in honor of those that gave Greece it’s freedom in the war of Independence, recognized March 25th 1821.

Each year, across the Delaware Valley our Greek community celebrated this historic event with annual parade along the Ben Franklin Parkway; in addition, many Greek schools follow up with a special afternoon in honor of the occasion.

Evangelismos Greek Orthodox church-Greek School is a k through 7th grade program with more than 75 students attending. Classes are hosted on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Tuesdays classes focus on language, while Friday’s on the many various traditional Greek dances from through out the country.
